New smart time management system for taxis in Dubai

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching a Smart Time Management System (STMS) at venues of various events such as exhibitions and conferences. The system enables RTA to get real time data on numbers of visitors and accordingly deploy the appropriate number of transit means. It also enables passengers to get information on the number of available vehicles along with the expected waiting time.

RTA confirms it has started trialing ‘smart license’ plates

The Road Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that it has commenced trials on 'smart license' plates in Dubai. The Authority has embarked upon a number of highly ambitious and unique transportation projects in the last few years such as autonomous buses and flying taxis. This latest project involving 'smart license' plates is part of Dubai Smart City initiative.

Dubai Police outlines plans to introduce driverless cars and RoboCops to its fleet

Dubai Police has disclosed some of the ambitious and truly revolutionary and innovative measures they plan to introduce to the policing sector in the UAE. Director General of Artificial Intelligence at Dubai Police, Brig. Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi outlined some of the applications it has in the pipeline at the Intersec Artificial Intelligence and Information Security Conference which was held at the Dubai World Trade Center.

Dubai’s RTA fits 5000 trucks with smart monitoring devices

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai confirmed that more than 5,000 heavy vehicles have been fitted with smart monitoring devices that remotely detect vehicle faults and drivers' attitudes on roads. The service, which has been launched via the recently opened Vehicles Safety Center at Jebel Ali Free Zone, has become mandatory to all companies operating trucks exceeding 20 years in service.
