Energy demand in Dubai increased in 2021 by around 10% compared to 2020. Energy demand in 2021 reached 50,202 gigawatt-hours compared to 45,712 gigawatt-hours in 2020, DEWA has announced.

Abu Dhabi Energy Services (ADES), a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), has signed agreements with leading government entities, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) to identify power and water savings opportunities in their facilities and buildings across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched the DEWA-SAT 1 nanosatellite in collaboration with NanoAvionics, becoming the world’s first utility to use nanosatellites to improve the maintenance and planning of electricity and water networks. This new achievement underlines DEWA’s leadership in developing and using the latest world-class technologies.

With the aim of attracting investment, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office’s (ADIO) has extended its partnership with Amazon, who will be setting up a technologically advanced fulfillment centre in the region. The project is expected to be launched by 2024.

The region’s first truly cognitive city OXAGON is the next big project on NEOM’s master plan after the 170 kilometer ‘Line’ project.
