African city embarks on its journey to become a smart city

Whale Cloud and Alibaba Group have recently announced their collaboration with the Republic of Ghana with the aim of transforming Accra into a smart city. The two Chinese companies have pledged to offer their IoT, Big Data, Cloud and AI solutions to accelerate the achievement of this goal.

H.E. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications of Ghana, praised the importance of such a collaboration and said that the deployment of ICT innovations in the management of cities will "improve the quality of life of citizens and the efficiency and transparency and will accelerate the provision of services to the people while reducing the risks of corruption at the same time."

In addition, H.E. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful explained that algorithms are a crucial element for machine learning and AI and the government will deploy tireless efforts to efficiently address urban governance problems.

Whale Cloud and Alibaba Group have also announced that in addition to providing digital solutions, they will provide the government with strategic and professional advice in order to develop e-commerce and start reaping its economic benefits.
